Welcome
To Body Benefits!!
Yoga
Etiquette, to Enhance Everyone’s Experience
- Please
do your best to arrive on time. The pranayama (breath)
work at the beginning of class is
crucial in allowing us to clear our minds of the daily
clutter and prepare mentally for class. The warm-up
series is extremely important. Practicing our asana’s
(Yoga Poses) when muscles are adequately warm is
proven to increase flexibility and greatly lowers
the risk of injury.
- If
you must arrive after class has begun, (door is closed)
please wait for opening meditation
to conclude, (when you hear movement) before entering
and then do so as quietly as possible.
- Class
will be closed to late comers 5 minutes after class
has begun. The warm-up is
extremely important in order to practice safely and
without injury.
-
Please turn cell phones OFF, no exceptions. There
is no acceptable circumstance for a
ringing cell phone during asana (Yoga) practice. Since
we know that our yoga practice is about building
stronger minds as well as bodies and learning to tune
into our own bodies communication ringing cell
phones can be very distracting to other participants.
-
If you must leave class before the class is over,
Please take an early Savasana (relaxation),
which will alert the instructor of your planned early
exit.
- Please
DO NOT leave during the group’s Savasana, this
is VERY disruptive to the process
of creating Mind/Body memory of our new found alignment.
- Please
remove your shoes before entering the room. It’s
part cleanliness and part respect for
the space and tradition. You may place your shoes
underneath bench right outside the Yoga room or in
cubicles on walls inside the Yoga room, but please
remove them before entering the room.
- Please
place your valuables and other belongings in one of
the cubicles inside the Yoga
room, this is not only to free up floor space but
also to avoid any unfortunate accidents involving
candles and/or tripping.
- If
you practice yoga-no matter how sporadic-you should
have your own yoga mat. The
loaner mats are intended for students new to yoga
and guests who are visiting from out of town.
- Please
wipe down borrowed mats after each use with sanitary
wipes provided. This
helps to cut down on the spread of germs and is respectful
to the next person who uses that mat.
- “We
are all practicing yoga together. We do not DO
yoga.”
- “We
are all Human Beings, Not Humans Doing”
-
Thank you so much for understanding and adhering
to these guidelines. Everyone
appreciates your cooperation.
